Non-Negotiable Boarding Regulations
Boarding Regulations and Disciplinary Guidelines
In the boarding school at New Horizon College, certain rules are enforced rigorously to maintain order, safety, and a harmonious living environment. These rules are non-negotiable and violations may lead to disciplinary action. Please familiarize yourself with the following:
Payment Deadline
Boarding fees must be paid in full before the commencement of each term. Learners with outstanding school/hostel fees may face suspension.
Caretaker's Quarters
No student is permitted in a teacher's flat or room without prior permission.
Cleanliness Responsibility
Students are responsible for maintaining cleanliness in communal areas, including the dining hall, study hall, dormitories, lockers, and ablution blocks at all times.
RCL Oversight
The Representative Council of Learners (RCL) must regularly inspect the tidiness of rooms and monitor student behaviour throughout the hostel.
Locker Inspections
Lockers will be inspected regularly to ensure general neatness.
Prohibited Activities
Activities such as ball games, running, or wrestling are not allowed within the hostel premises.
Energy Conservation
Lights must be switched off when not in use to conserve energy.
Electronic Devices
Students who possess cell phones, iPads, laptops, or other electronic devices are responsible for any loss or damage. NHC shall be indemnified against any claims.
Device Usage Policy
Cell phones, iPads, and laptops are not allowed during the week for primary and Grade 8-9 learners. These devices will be collected by the RCL on Sunday evenings and returned on Friday afternoons.
Kitchen Access
Students are not allowed in the kitchen area.
Sunday Church Services
All students must attend Sunday church services.
Timetable Adherence
Students must strictly comply with and adhere to study and meal timetables.
- MAINTENANCE FEE – R500.00 per student per year for unforeseen damages caused.
- LAUNDRY FEE – Compulsory for all hostel students.
- HOSTEL NECESSITIES
* The College will provide: Bed/Mattress/Locker
* Students must provide: Pillow/ Linen/ Blankets/Towels/ Toiletries/ Lock for locker

Important to note
Significant Information for Students and Parents
Kindly observe the following guidelines to ensure a seamless and fruitful experience during your enrollment at the boarding school.
- Students may receive visitors (parents) only with the permission of the Boarding Master.
- Students are financially responsible for any damages they have caused or are responsible for within the boarding facility.
- Parents must make prior arrangements (before 11:00 the previous day) if they want their children to go home.
- No student may leave the premises without permission from the staff member or teacher on duty. The College will not accept responsibility for unauthorized acts or their consequences.
- A copy of the student's medical aid card must be submitted to the Boarding Master/Mistress for record-keeping.
- Parents and students must adhere to a detailed "Disciplinary Code," "The Cell Phone & Cyber/Bullying Policy," "School Violence Policy," and other relevant policies. These documents will be provided upon request
